Captains' Message

Dear UCD Rugby Supporters,

Coming off back to back D1AA national championships, there are two unique challenges that the men of UC Davis Rugby will face in the 2016-2017 season.

First, the target on our back grows larger with every year. Our final match this year was evidence of how competitive Division 1AA rugby can be, especially in the playoff stages. Starting with the league season, every team we face will be looking to deliver us our first loss in the two years we have been apart of the division. With Pac West teams like Sacramento State, Chico State, and UNR all improving, we will be in for a rough ride.

The second challenge that we face has nothing to do with the opposition we will see, rather it is an internal struggle. Complacency can ruin a team, so we need to place a huge emphasis on staying hungry and looking to constantly improve and expand upon our game. We plan on playing an extremely tough preseason schedule, in the hopes that playing some of the top programs in the country will allow us to raise our level of play. Despite these obstacles, we are already looking forward to the next season and the opportunity to defend our title for the second time.

Thank you for your support and go Ags!
