Celebrating 100 Years! Announcing the Colby E. “Babe” Slater Endowment
The UC Davis Rugby Club is honoring the 100 year anniversary of the USA Gold Medal-winning 15’s rugby team that was captained by UC Davis’ own Babe Slater with an endowment fund dedicated to growing the sport of rugby at UC Davis.
In partnership with UC Davis, generous donors have jump-started this endowment with early pledges of 100K in an effort to provide ongoing support to our student athletes. This endowment allows the flexibility for the Rugby Team to address the priority needs of the program every year, in perpetuity.
Named in honor of UC Davis Alumnus, WW1 Veteran, and the two-time rugby Olympic Gold Medalist, the Colby E. ‘Babe’ Slater Endowment celebrates the 100 Year anniversary of his remarkable Olympic victory. Your support will help the Club elevate its status within D1 Rugby, achieve its goal of being a Top 10 program year in and year out, develop local, regional and international recruiting, and become a self-sustaining entity on the UC Davis Campus for the next 100 years.
Our goal is to raise enough money so that the interest, on a yearly basis, can pay for the running of the club including yearly operating expenses, travel, coach stipends, and eventually, scholarships. This endowment is an investment not only in the Rugby Club, but in Higher Education at the University, the support of Student Athletes, and as mentioned, a chance to have your money supporting the Rugby Club in perpetuity.
