The Aggies, all 19 strong, squared off against a St Mary’s B/C side mix team on May 8, 2021 on the lower grass field at St Mary’s.
While the Aggie numbers were low due to Covid and many kids not back in Davis yet, the team put forth a valiant effort against a much larger St Mary’s squad. The final was 26-22 St Mary’s on a last-minute try.
Coach Malpass was extremely happy with the effort with low numbers and little prep time, saying, “Incredibly proud of the effort. The lads stuck to structure well in both Offense and Defense. Both teams were very evenly matched and the game was always close.”
Coach called out “brave defense from Jordan at 15” and was “proud that we were able to get 1 game in for our Seniors’.”
The Ags will continue to hit the weights and practice field for the balance of the quarter. The return this fall will feature a full squad along with 7-10 new Rugby Recruits that have extensive experience in High School and Jr College.
